Falling Hard for the Boss Read online

I reach between my legs and rub circles on my clit. He changes his rhythm back to a slow slide in and out. “Now you can come,” he almost yells.

On command, I let go into the most glorious orgasm I’ve ever had in my life. I feel his hand push my back down and he goes even deeper, letting go inside of me. My orgasm lingers, throbbing around his pulsating cock.

  Chapter 2

“What time is it?” Jewels asks, raising up off the couch.

“Why are you sleeping on the couch?” I plop down next to her.

“I was waiting up for you.” She runs her hand through the end of my hair. “You have that just-fucked look.” She smiles.

I relax back on the couch. My body feels completely drained. “I was right, he is a sex god.”

She squeals. “So you went through with it?”

“I hadn’t planned on it, but he’s so alluring, I couldn’t stop myself.”

“How many times did he make you come?” She’s rubbing her hands together.

I try to count in my mind. “I lost count after four.”

She claps her hands. “I knew from the looks of him that he would take care of you.”

I sit up straight. “The bad thing is, I could really like him. Do you know he was only in that bar because he followed me inside?”

“Really? Are you going to see him again?”

“I didn’t even get his name. I snuck out before he was awake.”

“How did that walk of shame feel?”

“Sad, because I really didn’t want to leave.”

She hops off the couch. “Well, you know where he lives, you can always go back.”

“I thought about it, but I need to focus on my new job. There won’t be time for a relationship right now.”

“You said the same thing the entire six years you were in college. At some point you need to focus on your personal life.” She hands me a glass of water. “You look like you need to rehydrate.”

The cold water rejuvenates me as I drink every last drop and hand it back to her. “What I need is a long, hot shower and a nap.” I head directly to my bathroom and turn on the shower. I can’t even look at myself in the mirror. A sense of loss washes over me as the hot water rinses the smell of him off of me. I’ve had meaningless sex with a friend-with-benefits before, but I never missed his hands on me or felt like I wanted more. I rub my pink wrists, thinking how good it felt when his tie dug into my skin as my entire body pulled against them.

I towel off and put on a plush pair of pajamas before crawling into bed. My body aches and feels exhausted, until I close my eyes. In my mind, his face is above me and all I can think about is his hands caressing me inside and out. An ache starts between my legs. How could my body possibly be ready for sex again after the many hours he fucked me last night? Standing, sitting, lying, riding him… Ugh, I have to stop thinking about him. I roll to my side and hug my pillow to me tight.

He’s sliding in and out, then thrusting hard. My clit starts to throb. I reach under the drawstring of my pajamas and glide my hand down to my needy core. I’m soaked. I push my finger in and out, like he did with his cock. It only takes a few seconds before I’m coming. Not hard like with him, but enough to relieve the need inside me. It finally relaxes me enough to fall asleep.

Jewels and I share a late lunch down by the water. She exhibits her serious side, a side that I rarely witness, telling me stories about her internship at Phelps Law Firm not far from where I’ll be working. The stories are interesting, but something out on the water catches my eye and I soon stop paying attention to her altogether. I push my sunglasses snug on my face to get the glare of the sun out of my eyes.

Someone is flying high on a jetpack, hovering above the water. “Look at that, Jewels,” I say, pointing. “That would be so much fun.”

We both jump to our feet and walk over to the water, leaning against the railing on the edge of the sidewalk. From the silhouette outlined by the sun, I can only tell that it is a man. He flies high and then dips down into the water, staying under for so long that I worry he may have drowned. After several moments, he explodes above the surface again, flipping himself 360° with no effort at all before returning to his position hovering above the water.

“We have to do that,” I tell her.

“Not me. I’m not the daredevil. I watched you bungee jump and I thought I would have a heart attack.”

“You’re such a chicken,” I laugh at her.

“Bock, bock,” she makes mocking chicken noises and flaps her arms.

  “You’re a goofball.”

“Call me whatever you want. I love my life and have no death wish.”

Her words shoot to my heart. She must see the sudden change in my expression.

  “I’m sorry, Reese. I didn’t mean…”

“It’s okay.” We stand in silence watching this man play on the jetpack. My eyes brim with unshed tears as I think about my mom. She had a death wish for years. She was so lulled into her depression that she attempted many times to commit suicide, before she finally found a way to end her life. I was thirteen years old when I found her hanging in the garage. I struggled for a long time afterward until I decided I would not live my life fearful or sad anymore. From then on, I resolved that my life would be full of adventure and daring. While I was in college getting my computer network security degree, I took every break that I could to do something exciting. I’ve been bungee jumping, skydiving, and even driven a racecar at 200mph and loved it. The adrenaline released during my escapades stifles the depression that lurks in my mind.

Jewels is the only other person that knows about my mom. We got drunk one night and I fell apart and spilled my story. What I love about her the most is that she didn’t pity me. She wiped my tears and gave me a pep talk. We’ve never talked about it again.

“Come on, let’s go shopping at that little boutique I’ve had my eyes on. They should be open for another hour,” she says, looking at the time on her phone.

Two hours later we exit the store with our arms weighed down by bags of clothes. I found a new outfit to start my job tomorrow along with a pair of matching shoes and the perfect handbag. I’m excited about soaking in all I can from this company, so one day I can start my own. I plan on meeting the CEO and picking his brain for every piece of knowledge I can get from him.

We hang out on the couch our apartment, stuffing our mouths with popcorn and watching an old Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis movie. She’s the only other person that I know that loves the old comedies. The movie wraps up and I immediately head for bed to get a good night’s sleep before my first day at the new job.

  Chapter 3

I nearly poke my eye out putting on my eyeliner. I’ll make a great impression my first day at work with a blood shot eye, I think sarcastically to myself. I smack my lips together to spread the gloss on them evenly. My red hair looks very business-like, pulled into a neat bun, complemented by my white-colored blouse buttoned at the neck. I rub my hands down my grey-striped pencil skirt to remove any last wrinkles.

Barefoot, I pad into the bedroom and slide into my new heels, fresh out of the box. They look fantastic on me in the mirror. These heels will be my biggest challenge. I’m not exceedingly graceful and usually wear a low heel or flats. In the several steps between me and the full-length mirror I manage to trip over my own two feet and land on my ass.

“What are you doing on the floor?” Jewels laughs. “Quit screwing around or you’re going to be late for your first day.”

“I tripped over these shoes,” I say as she helps me off the floor.

“Sweetie, why is your eye so red?” she says, pulling at my eye lid.

I swat her hand away. “Because I’m a total klutz.” I grab my purse.

“Are you taking a cab or the subway?”

“I hate the subway. I’ve got a cab on the way. I gotta go, later.”

“Have a good day!” she yells after me.

The cab pulls up in front of the
massive building with five minutes to spare. I hand the driver some cash and rush out of the cab, tripping again, this time scrapping my knee. I hop off the ground and straighten my skirt as I run to the elevators, looking around to make sure nobody saw me fall. The door opens and the crowd of people shifts slightly to make room for me. I feel something dripping down my shin but it’s so crowded I can’t bend down to look at it.

The horde of people in the elevator has thinned and almost vanished by the time we reach the top floor. I head directly to the HR department, swiping a tissue from someone’s desk as I walk by and quickly wiping up the mess on my knee.

“Are you ready to see your new office?” says the HR woman who comes from around her desk holding a file in her hand.

“Yes. Let me throw this away first, though.” I hold the tissue up.

We walk down a long hallway lined with offices on either side. She explains who’s in each office as we pass by them. “This here is your office. The one at the end of the hallway is Connor Blaze, the CEO and owner of Blaze Security Systems.”

“Am I going to meet him today?” I ask her.

“I doubt it. He’s pretty scarce around here most days unless there is a board meeting.”

I walk into my new office and open the blinds behind my desk, revealing a beautiful up-close view of the city. The glass windows facing the hallway have no blinds to hide behind.

“This notebook contains all the information that you need.” She’s pulled it out of a drawer and laid it on my desk. “There will be a meeting in the conference room in an hour to introduce you to the team.” She walks out, leaving the door open.

I tuck my purse into one of the drawers and pull out a highlighter to dig into the notebook. I turn on the computer so that I can start getting familiar with their system. Halfway into the book, highlighter in hand, a sense creeps over me of someone standing behind and watching. I look up to see who it is and nearly fall out of my chair – it’s the mystery man that fucked my brains out last night.

“What are you doing here?” My mouth hangs agape.

He picks up the name plate on my desk and inspects it with a twinkle in his eye. “Reese Beckham. Why is Jewels sitting in Reese’s desk?” He smirks at me.

“I.. I... never mind that. Why are you here?” I stammer out.

“If I remember the evening correctly, someone didn’t want to know my name.” He walks over and shuts my door.

“No, you’re not Connor Blaze?” I close my eyes and shake my head.

His hand lands on top of my head, halting its movement. “I am. Not only am I Connor Blaze, I’m your boss and also the man that fucked you two nights ago.”

I stand and open the drawer with my purse in it. I throw it on my shoulder and lower my head, walking to the door.

He snags my elbow when I walk by him. “Where do you think you’re going?” he chuckles.

“I can’t work for you.” I stare at his mischievous eyes.

“Why, because I fucked you for hours?” he says, close to my ear.

“Yes, and the fact that you’ve seen me naked.” I tug at the small gap at my collar.

“Well, you’ve seen me naked too, so I’d say we are even.”

“Not even remotely close,” I snap at him and he laughs out loud.

“You’re going to have to get over that because I understand you are the best at your job. I need someone good to protect my assets and according to your testing, you’re that person. Your ability to track hackers on your computer brought you to the top of my team’s list.”

“How do you expect me to work for you, when I look at you and all I see is…”

“My cock sliding into you?” He looks so proud of himself.

My face is beet red. “Not what I was going to say, but something like that. Do you sleep with all your female employees?”

He gets in my face. “I don’t sleep with my employees,” he says between gritted teeth. “I had no idea who you were.”

“I told you I was starting a job here today,” I snap.

“It was too late by then. I already wanted you. There was no stopping what was between us.” His hand runs down my face.

“Well, if I’m going to work here, it will never happen again.” I snap my chin in the air and place my hands on my hips.

“Your loss, because I’d love to fuck you right here on this desk.” He pats the metal desk top.

“Mr. Blaze. I have a meeting to get ready for. I’d appreciate it if we never spoke of this again.” I walk around to my desk and sit down.

“Whatever you want.” He turns back to me just as he is about to leave.

  “Ms. Beckham?”

“Yes,” I look up at him.

“You do have panties on under that skirt, right?” He laughs again. I take a pen out of my desk and lob it at him. He shuts the door just in time and then pen falls uselessly to the floor.

I cover my face with my hands. The only time I have a one-night stand and of all people, it’s with my new boss. Shit, shit, and double shit.

I want to call Jewels and ask her what I should do, but I am already pushing it to make it to the meeting on time. I take a pen and a pad of paper with, heading out to find the conference room. The room is filled with employees. Every one of them seems very professional and polite as we introduce ourselves. I take a seat in the far corner of the table facing the hallway windows.

Mark Tanner, head of security, formally introduces me to the group. After official introductions, he starts laying out plans for the week and disclosing what breaches they have had and need to be shut down. He turns his back to us to write on a large whiteboard just as Connor walks into the room, quietly stepping inside and standing across from my chair. His eyes have not left mine. I want to slither under my chair.

“Oh, hi Mr. Blaze. I didn’t’ see you come in. You usually don’t come to these meetings,” Mark says, a little nervously.

“I’ve decided I need to be a little more involved with my employees.” He looks my direction again. What the hell is he doing? Is he paying me back for saying I wouldn’t sleep with him again? It was a one-night stand. A huge mistake, even if his larger than life presence in the room is strangely turning me on. Get a grip, Reese.

“Please continue, Mark.” He waves his hand at him.

I square my chair toward Mark so that I can’t see him staring at me, but damn if I don’t feel the heat of his eyes on my neck. Don’t look at him, don’t look at him, I keep repeating to myself, not hearing a word Mark is saying.

Mark finishes up and asks Connor if there was anything he’d like to add. He straightens his tie, then rolls up his dark blue shirt sleeves. “I wanted to take a minute to personally welcome Ms. Beckham.” He places the palms of his hands on the conference table.

I squeeze my thighs together, knowing exactly what he is really saying. Bastard. He then takes a minute and speaks to everyone in the room. He seems to know them well for a man that doesn’t hang out at the office much, because he asks each of them about their families by name.

I slip out while he’s talking to Mark and hurry down the hallway, careful not to trip I shut my office door hoping it will deter him. I immediately get to work on my computer, but occasionally glance up when I see people walking by. God, I wish there were blinds on the windows.

I delve into the system and start exploring its nuances. He’s got a fierce firewall, it’s hard to imagine anyone could hack the system. His company focuses on security systems for large companies all over the world. They create programs that make their systems safer in order to prevent identify fraud or theft of their information. From what I understand my primary job is to keep hackers out of our system. We store all the backup data for all these large companies, so in simple terms, I keep our system safe.

“Hey, I’m Stacy. I’m in the office at the beginning of the hall. I hear you’re new here. Would you like to go to the café downstairs and get some lunch?” A girl with dark rimmed glasses and sandy blonde
hair neatly tucked behind her ears leans against my office door.

“That would be great. Let me shut down my computer and I’ll meet you there.”

As I go to leave my office, my heel gets caught in the carpet and I fall, landing in front of a large pair of shiny shoes.

A low voice rumbles above me. “I knew you would fall for me,” he says with a deep chuckle.

I look up over my shoulder at Connor. “If you were a gentleman, you would help me off the floor,” I grumble, using the door to help me up.

He raises both his hands in the air in surrender. “I’m the boss. I don’t make a point of touching my employees.”

I want to tell him he’s an ass, but I bite my tongue, promptly straightening out my skirt and marching off. His eyes linger on my ass, but I ignore him and hurry off to meet Stacy for lunch.

  Chapter 4

I slip off my shoes as soon as I walk into my apartment and throw them across the room.

“Bad day?” Jewels asks, dodging my flying shoes.

“You will never believe who my boss is.” I drop my purse on the floor and slump down on the couch, feeling defeated.

She sits down beside me and rakes her fingers through my hair. “Who? Is he hot?”

I cover my face with my hands. “The guy from the bar. My one-night stand.”

She roars in laughter. “That had to be awkward,” she says, then proceeds to snort.

“It’s not funny!” I smack her hard in the chest with a throw pillow.

“It kinda is.” Tears of laughter are forming in the corners of her eyes.

“Gah!” I yell and try to stand, but she wraps her arms around my waist.

“I’m sorry. Give me a minute.” She snorts one more time before wrangling herself under control.

“What am I going to do?” I throw myself back on the couch.

“What do you want to do?”

“I’d like to keep my job, but every time I’m close to him my libido seems to run rampant.”
